New in Sweden

SFI-Ekonomi (SFI Finance) contains educational material about personal finances that is tailored to language classes for new arrivals. The material targets teachers who want to work with topics related to personal finances within the framework of the municipalities' language classes.

The material introduces Swedish terminology for private finances, provides orientation within the Swedish banking and payment system and clarifies important rights and obligations in simple Swedish. The material includes a video, a test and a handbook.

Våga prata pengar (Dare to Talk About Money) is a one-day course for people whose day-to-day activities bring them into contact with newly arrived adults and unaccompanied children. During the course participants learn about purchases, contracts, insurance, products and services on the financial market, budgets, debts, educational loans and home equipment loans. The objective is for participants who complete the course to be able to support new arrivals in matters related to personal finances.

Våga prata pengar is a cooperation between Finansinspektionen, the Swedish Consumers' Banking and Finance Bureau, the Swedish Consumers Insurance Bureau, the Swedish Consumer Agency, the Swedish Enforcement Agency, local budget and debt advisors, consumer counsellors and CSN.

Training days are organised throughout the country in cooperation with county administrative boards.
