Supervision and sustainability

FI supervises firms that have received authorisation from FI to conduct business on the financial market. All of FI’s supervision is risk-based, and this also applies to sustainability.

Supervision is one of FI's most important tools for carrying out its assignment. As a general rule, FI's supervision must be risk-based and forward looking. We prioritise our supervision work based on how severe the effects of problems – at different firms or in different functions – can be for the financial system, consumers or the economy at large. FI's supervision also includes promoting that the financial system contributes to sustainable development.

Supervision within the area of sustainability is integrated into the four operational sections' supervision processes and activities. This is described under the sections' work with supervision.
